Priority Axis 1

TRANSPORT ACCESSIBILITY

The main objective of priority axis 1 is to enhance transport accessibility and services of the South-East Cohesion Region in line with the principles of sustainable development. Other areas of support are the improvement of the connection of the region to the supra-regional TEN-T transport network, interconnection within the region and enhancement of transport accessibility through technical improvement of the roads while respecting the environment. Specifically, the objectives of this priority axis are the improvement of the regional transport network, an increase in its compactness and interconnectedness through construction and technical improvement of roads, an increase in road safety and the minimisation of adverse environmental impacts, better connection of urban and regional centres and their connection to supra-regional transport networks and last but not least, enhancing the attractiveness of the region for international air transport. All support areas also aim at improving the level of public transport in the region with a focus on environmentally friendly forms, an increase in the popularity of urban public transport, and the modernisation of vehicle stock used in urban and suburban public transport systems. Furthermore, construction of a dense network of suitably located bike routes including related infrastructure and increasing the safety of pedestrians in urban areas are supported from this priority axis.

For these purposes, a total of EUR 345 million is earmarked from EU funds, which amounts to roughly CZK 9 763 billion, i.e. 49% of the ROP SE.
